Ready for the winter ?

After a hopefully successful plant protection season, it is important to consider a few things for proper cleaning and winterisation.

Indoor cleaning

After the last spraying session, the machine should be thoroughly cleaned inside and out. We recommend rinsing the tank, hose, pump and nozzles in particular with water or cleaning agent. To do this, simply run the machine with the PTO shaft and rinse for 15 minutes or rinse several times alternately with detergent, leave to take effect and rinse again. Then open all ball valves and filters while the machine is running. Place the filter with cover in the filler sieve for later inspection. Depressurise the control valve by setting the pressure to minus either manually or electrically. If you have installed a CleverSpray or VISU, please loosen the lower blue high-pressure hose of the flow meter (flow sensor) so that the water can escape or remove it to prevent frost damage.

Exterior cleaning

We would like to emphasise once again that no harsh cleaning agents or high-pressure cleaners may be used when cleaning the VICAR sprayer! This will prevent damage to electronic components such as motors and sensors as well as fibreglass and cast aluminium parts. Depending on the solvent in the cleaner, the different materials such as thermoplastics, duoplastics or elastomers of the plastic coating will otherwise be attacked. For example, the composite material GRP becomes soft and unstable when a high-pressure cleaner is used. In the case of cast parts, the coating is washed out in open areas (e.g. scratches) and gradually peels off. Damage should therefore be sealed with spray paint. Tip: Spray the machine with penetrating oil, wax or our impregnation before use to prevent pesticides from sticking. Then simply rinse off with the garden hose and wipe off lightly with a sponge if necessary. This impregnation is care and corrosion protection in one. Also check the air guide louvres in the housing. To do this, remove the housing bends behind the plastic air outlets. If these are dirty or even clogged, air performance will be lost. As a preventative measure, you can flush the turbine housing immediately after each plant protection measure. To do this, hold the open water hose alternately from behind and from the front into the air inlet grille for 10 seconds while the turbine is running. This is important as both halves of the turbine draw in air and the entire housing is therefore cleaned.
